Bridging merchants and central banks: who can help Nordic retail speak the same language as Europe's policymakers?

Birgitta Söderlund-Rietz of H&M returns to moderate the Summit's key conversations, bringing a merchant's perspective to discussions that span technology, policy and central banking.
We are pleased to welcome back Birgitta Söderlund-Rietz, Global Product Owner Payments at H&M and a member of the Euro Retail Payments Board (ERPB), to The Nordic Summit 2026 in Tromsø.
Birgitta will moderate several of the Summit's key conversations, including the opening fireside chat with David Birch and Eric Tak of the European Central Bank on agentic finance and the future of retail, the executive roundtable on moving from proof of concept to scalable implementation, and the executive conversation between Nordic and European central banks on the region's migration to shared European infrastructure. Across each of these, she brings a merchant's perspective to discussions that span technology, policy and central banking.
As Europe moves from ambition to implementation, having a merchant voice steering that conversation, rather than simply observing it, will be essential for shaping infrastructure that retailers can actually put to use.
